SHEN WEI, THIRTEEN DAYS IN 2004

“When I first moved to New York City, I started photographing myself. I wanted to document my footsteps along this journey, like a visual diary: to document my first year of life in the city. But I didn’t show these images until 2017. And when I looked back at them, I saw more things about myself than I had been aware of at the time. There is a kind of freshness and fearlessness in these images along with a sense of insecurity and innocence.” - SW
